Holiday illness at the Holiday Village Majorca, Cala Millor
We have received reports of illness at the Holiday Village Majorca which is located in the resort of Cala Millor.
The hotel is advertised by First Choice Holidays part of the TUI UK Limited Group of companies as being a 5 star hotel. On its website, First Choice Holidays describes the hotel in the following way:
‘With 6 pools, plus more restaurants and bars than you can count on one hand, the Holiday Village Majorca is a big-hitter. And it does it in style-luxury swim-up rooms are thrown in too. The Holiday Village Majorca burst onto the scene in 2013. A horde of pools steals the show, plus there’s a free shuttle bus that gets you to Cala Millor beach in 10 minutes. One-of-a-kind activities stock the Holiday Village Majorca, including a Balanceability course that teaches young kids to cycle and a first-rate spa that’s just for adults’.
Whilst the hotel sounds amazing and really does have everything a family needs for the perfect getaway, the reality is that these perfect family holidays are being hugely impacted by sickness amongst fellow holidaymakers.
We have received reports of holidaymakers experiencing symptoms of diarrhoea, vomiting, hot and cold shivers, a loss of appetite and general lethargy. We understand that a large number of children have been affected by the illness with some children vomiting within the swimming pools.
We also understand that on a couple of occasions in July the swimming pools at the hotel had to be closed for short periods, as poo was found within the pool. Instead of a deep clean of the pools taking place it would seem that staff simply fished out the offending objects and allowed guests back into the pools which may well have spread the illness.
Usually associated with bacterial illnesses such as Salmonella, Campylobacter, Guardia and E-coli which if left untreated can have lasting effects and severe consequences to one’s health
