Travellers’ diarrhoea reported at Jaz Mirabel Park, Sharm el Sheikh
Holidaymakers posting on Tripadvisor are reporting suffering from diarrhoea and stomach cramps while staying at Sharm El Sheikh’s Jaz Mirabel Park hotel.
The hotel offers all-inclusive board. A Tripadvisor reviewer posting on September 5th says that all members of their party fell ill with symptoms of holiday food poisoning while at the hotel.
The same reviewer also alleges other guests at the Jaz Mirabel were affected by similar symptoms of sickness, stomach cramps and diarrhoea.
The management of the hotel responded online by pointing out its many awards for health and food safety and boasting about their “extremely strict food safety guidelines which are done by international, independent food safety companies.”
They admit to the Jaz Mirabel suffering from outbreaks of food poisoning caused by Salmonella, E.coli and Campylobacter in the past. However, they dismiss it by saying “even simple lapses in hygiene or food preparation can lead to holidaymakers falling ill in Egypt.”
Some guests posting online about the Jaz Mirabel claim they even ate salads and ice cubes and remained well.
However, a review posted on 17 August mentions repetitive food – and if food served on the buffet is reheated and reserved or not stored correctly, gastroenteritis can affect some holidaymakers.
A guest posting on Tripadvisor on 14 August also mentions their family fell ill with food poisoning symptoms at the Jaz Mirabel. They also allege that the hotel has implemented a disclaimer form issued to guests on arrival limiting liability for any injuries incurred on holiday at the hotel.
Simpson Millar LLP advises anyone who has stayed at the Jaz Mirabel and fallen ill or suffered an accident during their stay to obtain a GP diagnosis and contact Simpson Millar’s holiday claims team for further advice on how to make a no win no fee holiday illness or accident claim.
