Food Poisoning at the Sunrise Royal Makadi, Egypt – Simpson Millar Solicitors Successfully Claim Holiday Compensation
A group of holidaymakers that stayed at the Sunrise Royal Makadi in Egypt have been awarded compensation after suffering from a Holiday Illness. Holidaymakers have made successful claims against Thomas Cook for sickness including symptoms such as diarrhoea, vomiting and stomach upsets.
Simpson Millar are also investigating reports of illness at another hotel in Egypt, the Sunrise Tirana Aqua Park. Reports on Tripadvisor and from holidaymakers that have been in contact with us directly, suggest that there has been a problem with holiday sickness at the Sunrise Tirana Hotel, which goes as far back as May 2011.
The August reports on Tripadvisor indicate holidaymakers are suffering from stomach upsets and complaining that lunch time food was “only just edible”.
A holidaymaker that suffered an illness at the Sunrise Tirana Aqua Park in May/ June of this year had suspected food poisoning, which required him to return to his GP four times.
Paul Stevens, Group Holiday Illness Claims Manager at Simpson Millar says:
“Food poisoning on holiday can easily be prevented by tour operators and hotel managers, taking simple measures to prevent holiday food poisoning. Sensible hygiene procedures such as regular hand washing can prevent food poisoning on holiday caused by dangerous bugs including salmonella, cryptosporidium and shigella dysentery.”
“If there is Food Poisoning or swimming pool illness at the Sunrise Tiran Aqua Park, customers can expect to receive substantial compensation.”
Paul continues to say:
“Thomas Cook’s prompt offers of holiday compensation for the suspected food poisoning at the Sunrise Royal Makadi Bay can be seen as an acknowledgement that their customers should not have experienced illness in the first place.”
“Those holidaymakers that experienced similar problems should gather evidence if they were ill on holiday and want to claim compensation for Food Poisoning. Holidaymakers should visit their GP once they return to the UK, and ask for a stool sample to be sent away for analysis. If the test is positive for holiday bugs including Campylobacter, E. Coli, this can significantly enhance the prospects of a successful holiday compensation claim”
“I would urge anyone that thinks their holiday at the Sunrise Royal Makadi Bay or Sunrise Tirana Aqua Park was ruined by food poisoning, to contact Simpson Millar as soon as possible. I would advise customers to seek legal advice even if they have been offered compensation by their tour operator.”
