Holiday Sickness Reported at the Jaz Crystal Resort – Egypt
Were you sick whilst staying at the Jaz Crystal Resort in Mersa Matruh?
Our Holiday Sickness Claims Team are currently monitoring reports of numerous Holidaymakers returning from the Hotel Jaz Crystal in the Egyptian holiday village, Mersa Matruh. Holidaymakers are commenting on the quality of the food served at the Hotel which they believe to be the cause of the sickness bug.
Reports suggest that a high percentage of British travellers have experienced bouts of holiday sickness after contracting a stomach bug between April and May 2010 at this all-inclusive hotel on Egypt’s Mediterranean coast.
The symptoms experienced by guests staying at the Jaz Crystal Resort include diarrhoea, excruciating stomach cramps and fever with several holidaymakers reportedly admitted to a local hospital to be placed on a drip.
Simon Lomax, Simpson Millar’s Holiday Compensation Claims Manager said:
“Holidaymakers are complaining that the buffet food served at the Jaz Crystal Hotel is inadequately cooked and is often served lukewarm. Food should always be served and stored at sufficient temperatures to avoid the growth of harmful bacteria such as campylobacter.”
“Guests are also angry that the Jaz Crystal Resort caters mainly for the Hotel’s Italian guests and that the food served to the British is of poor quality.”
“If any holidaymaker falls ill in Egypt my advice is always to seek immediate medical attention to avoid long term complications.”
“Most food borne holiday sickness is caused by infectious agents which are the primary cause of gastroenteritis suffered by holidaymakers travelling to Egypt.”
Simon also commented that: “The stories I have heard are worrying and I will be seeking to claim substantial compensation for travellers who have been affected by food poisoning or poor standards of hygiene abroad. Holidaymakers travelling with reputable tour operators should not be subjected to infectious bacteria and other germs whilst on package holidays.”
The Jaz Crystal Resort is one of 3 hotels in Marsa Matruh exclusively featured by TUI and First Choice holiday group in the UK. The other 2 Jaz hotels in the holiday village, Marsa Matruh, Egypt are the Jaz Almaza Beach Resort and Jaz Oriental Resort Hotels.
