Holiday Hotel Sickness News – Jaz Mirabel – Egypt
Were you sick whilst staying at the Jaz Mirabel Complex?
Holidaymakers are continuing to contact Simpson Millar LLP Solicitors following holidays ruined by sickness while staying at the Jaz Mirabel Beach and Jaz Mirabel Park Resorts in Sharm El Sheikh – Egypt.
Large numbers of holidaymakers are reporting sickness outbreaks at the Hotels with symptoms primarily consisting of unbearable stomach cramps and unrelenting diarrhoea.
Nick Harris, Head of Holiday Illness Claims said:
“The complaints we are receiving suggest that the food served at the Jaz Mirabel is at best tepid. There are also a number of reports of wild birds freely contaminating the restaurant areas – which is concerning as birds are known to carry and spread bacterial organisms.”
“To reduce the risk of food poisoning food must be served at the appropriate temperature. Bacteria such as salmonella is destroyed when food is hot but thrives on food that is lukewarm.”
“We have been contacted by around 30 people so far who have been sick ether during or following holidays at the Jaz Mirabel complex. I expect the number of reports we are receiving to keep rising.”
“Symptoms of the sickness bug seem to be mainly diarrhoeal. The early indications are that the symptoms are not consistent with a norovirus. Symptoms of norovirus typically present as vomiting and the infection generally clears within 2-3 days. Many people we have spoken to are still experiencing chronic diarrhoea.”
“Holidaymakers who fall sick on holiday should seek medical attention immediately. Dehydration is often the main cause of prolonged suffering. The resort has a resident doctor who we are told has been administering injections and in some cases placing guests on drips in their rooms.”
Nick added: “I am closely monitoring the situation and will obviously aim to recover compensation for anyone who has been affected by sickness at the Jaz Mirabel resort if food poisoning or inadequate hygiene practices are to blame.”
“I am keen to talk to anyone who has stayed at the hotel recently and was affected by sickness.”
The Jaz Mirabel Resort complex is one of 3 hotels which share facilities – the Jaz Mirabel Park – the Jaz Mirabel Club and the Jaz Mirabel Beach.
